i don’t mind getting drenched as long as you’re dry and safe

I think if you squint, you can see love everywhere. It’s like a puzzle – you just need to observe a little, and there it is, a silent gesture of love.

Imagine standing in the rain, holding an umbrella not just over yourself, but leaning it more towards your partner, ensuring they remain dry while you take the weight of the downpour. Even if they walk faster than you, you keep pace to make sure the rain doesn’t touch them, not even a little. You’d rather get drenched than see a single droplet of water on their face.

When you lean that umbrella, it’s like you’re telling your partner, “I’ve got you.” You’re showing them that their comfort is your priority. This simple yet powerful act speaks volumes about selfless love, where their well-being means more than your own. In that moment, as you stand there soaked, you realize that you don’t mind. As long as they are safe and dry, you’re content.

This gesture is more than just about rain and umbrellas. It’s an analogy for the sacrifices we make for those we love. It doesn’t have to be dramatic like a scene from a movie but in small, everyday acts of kindness and care like treating them to their favourite foods when they’re feeling low, listening to their worries even when you have your own, plugging in their phone when they fall asleep with TikTok on loop, and, of course, hovering that umbrella just a little more towards them to shield them from the storm.

This is not about neglecting yourself but about finding comfort in your partner’s well-being. It’s about understanding that true love is a balance of give and take, where both partners look out for each other. Today, you might be the one holding the umbrella, but tomorrow, when the skies clear, they will be the one standing by your side, ready to hold the umbrella for you just in case another downpour comes. In that simple, selfless act, you’re expressing a love that’s deep, shaped like forever, and beautifully unspoken.

I genuinely feel that love is about finding someone who doesn’t just say they love you but proves it in every possible way.
